Beauty Talk: Oil Treaments

Hey.

Just thought I'd make a quick post about the changes I've noticed with using oils. I've incorporated so many different types of oils for my skin, hair and diet. It's only been 2 months and I see some important changes.

1. Coconut Oil

  • I use Coconut Oil as a hair-care treatment once a week. I just massage it into my roots and leave it in overnight. It's too greasy to use all over, so I stick to the roots and ends. I purchased an organic Coconut-Oil that I can use for skin and hair. I use it as topical treatment for my scars and blemishes as well as my hair. I highly recommend it. I've seen that my hair growth has progressed in just 2 months of using it.
  • Coconut oil has many great health benefits which you guys can Google by yourself on your free time. I've done some research myself and found these benefits pretty amazing. I switched out my Extra-Virgin Olive Oil for Coconut Oil. I use it for cooking. If you do not wanna cook in Coconut Oil, you can just put 2 table spoons in your protein shakes or smoothies. That is a great way of incorporating oils into your diet without having to taste them directly.
  • Coconut Oil has been amazing to repair my cracked heels. Somehow, my feet are really winter-weary right now. I did a lot of walking in Edmonton too. I've been using oil 3-4 times a week on my heels and I already see a difference.
  • I use Coconut Oil as a conditioning hair mask twice a month. I grind some blueberries (high in anti-oxidants) and mix it with coconut oil into a paste. You can use this mask for your face or your hair. When I make this paste, I usually do my face and hair.
2. Avocado Oil

  • I rave about this all over my Facebook. I use Avocado oil exclusively for my skin. I purchase an expensive brand so I use it sparingly. I am just WAITING for 2 more months. I will show you a before and after of my acne scars. I use it with a Q-Tip just on the affected areas. It can clog pores if you use too much all over.
3. Baby Oil

  • I switched out my makeup removers for this baby! BABY OIL. You don't need anything else. And ever since I've started taking my acne and skin seriously, I've stopped using too much makeup. I haven't used a foundation in over 2 months. I just use a blemish/concealing stick to conceal some acne spots and MAC Studio Fix Powder to touch up my skin. But no foundations! However, I used a Sephora sample for my skin. It was a BB cream by Boscia. Oh my god, I loved it. But $46 is way too expensive for a BB cream. I can get the MUFE HD foundation in $49, which I love the most (thanks Komal for the recommendation!) Okay, I am rambling. No foundation. Minimal skin makeup. I am keeping it clear and prepping it with oils and I am loving it.
4. Fish Oil

  • Now, this isn't topical. This is a supplement that I recently purchased. It's only been a couple of days. But I needed it because I am working out and I needed something other than a multi-vitamin. It has omega-3 fatty acids and it also said that it may help boost your metabolism and keep your digestion in check. It's too early to say whether I've benefited from it. So, I will reserve my comments until I ingest these supplements for at least 2-3 months.
It's funny how my mom and nani (grandma) always used to rave about the benefits of oil in general and I never used to hear them out. Now, I understand how I can reap the benefits of using oil in my diet and as topical treatments for both my skin and hair. Let me know if any of you guys know of other amazing oils that I am missing out on! =)
