Insanity Month 1

Hey guys..

Quick update..

I finally finished the first month of Insanity. Unfortunately, I will not be continuing on to month two.. more on that below.

First of all.. I took 6 weeks to complete 4 weeks of Insanity. Let me explain.. I fell sick the first week when I had those allergic reactions. And I missed one week because I was out everyday that particular week. Hence, I repeated the same week.

Now, I am done all 4 weeks of Insanity. And it's time for recovery week.

Results - I lost 13 pounds in the first month. I've heard from people that you end up dropping more weight in the second month rather than the first. I am not sure whether to continue or not.

I started going to the gym along with Zumba classes. I need to lift weights to tackle more problem areas such as my arms and thighs. I cannot depend on Insanity alone. So, I cannot keep up with Insanity 6 days a week. I've just made it a point to work out 6 days a week, but it doesn't matter what I do in terms of exercise as long as I am working out. I do Zumba for fun. I do insanity for toning. And I lift weights for toning as well. I just started doing the other exercises at the gym. I only used to go for Cardio and Zumba before.

The following is everything I do at the gym in terms of strength:- (it's not a lot because I just started)

For arms and shoulders: Bent-over row, plank (at home), shoulder press and squat, lat pulldown, chest press and cable rowing machine.

Legs: leg press, seated leg curl and leg extension machine.

Abs: Abdominal crunch machine, air bike (at home), bent knee hip raise (at home), cross body crunch (at home) and abdominal twisting machine (not sure of the name but you put your knees up on the seat and twist your abs with weights on both sides).

I plan it out this way.. Monday is usually upper body (so.. shoulders, arms etc.) and Wednesday is leg day. Then, Friday is abs day. The days in between.. I do Zumba or Insanity. These days, I also do the 30 Day Shred for the times I don't have time for an Insanity workout.

By the way, the Shred is a JOKE after you do Insanity. The entire workout feels like a warm-up. Everything they say about Shaun T is correct.

So.. that's basically it. I will TRY to keep up with Insanity month 2 but let's see how it goes. As for the weight.. I am not really concerned about the number on the scale. My body has lost only a few inches in the last 2 months. I am going slow and steady. But it's working.. at least I am not gaining. So.. two months of eating moderately clean (cheating at times) and working out results into 13 pounds.

That's the end of my health update. Good luck to everyone trying to lose weight for the summer!
