You know, sometimes a woman just needs another woman. Don't let your imagination fly too high, there. There is only so much you can talk about to your partner. And, it gets a bit repetitive and boring after a while. A girl has got to have a girl friend in her life that is at the same intellectual level as her, and really on-point with things. I love a straight-forward person, easy to get along with, and fun to hang out with!
Now, I can think of many reasons why every woman needs a great friend. But here are a few..
1. To go shopping.
How amazing is it to go on a shopping spree with someone who understands your need to shop? Because, apparently, it's 'unreasonable' for me to partake in retail therapy, according to my man. I object, your honour. Every girl needs that kind of therapy once in a while. And, it's better when you have someone telling you, "Really Aditi? I am gonna judge you now!" Do you guys know how much money and time it saves you? You get free opinions, right then and there. You don't have to go through the mental torture of looking at a product, staring at it and wondering.. hmmm.. "Should I get this? Should I not? Is it expensive? Is it worth it? Wait, is there another colour?" Your friend can save you all that energy by saying, "Okay, pink looks tacky! Get that coral one and we're off to the lingerie section next!"
"Uhh, yes ma'am!"
Not only do women make shopping easier, but they love it too. So, you share your interests. For men, it's crucifying to even stand there waiting for you while you try on an outfit. Trust me, I speak from experience. And, by the time you wear the 5th outfit, they will be so annoyed that they are barely looking at you. Their thought process is something like this, "Wow. What kinda shit do you have to do for a girl? Iske paas itne kapde hain.. and tab bhi har hafte Forever 21 ka naara laga ke aa jaati hai. I didn't own these many clothes ever since.. uh, a lifetime. What does she do with them? She is gonna use my car later on to drop half of them to a donation box that's outside my building.......*comes back to life* Huh.. yeah babe, that looks good. Get it, please! Quick!"
All in all, you can count on an honest opinion from a genuine friend.
2. Guilty-Free Dining
I cannot even begin to explain the stupendous feeling of dining with a woman. We know our meal before we even discuss it. And that pre-understanding definitely includes a dessert. Really.. you don't say. Knowing the menu pre-hand, we patiently wait for each other's favorite meal to be on the table. And just when you pick up the fork to nibble on your food, you know undoubtedly, that some exciting stories are coming your way. Have you heard of a therapy that includes venting and eating sugar, and an actual human being listening to you, and providing you with advice. That's like the best deal ever! You don't even find that in paid therapy these days. After all, we are women. We put up with all sorts of crap and we owe it to ourselves to be treated right. Let's face it - no BOY has the patience to listen to us entirely. And our girlfriends are amazing with listening AND they take interest because they relate to half the issues.
And the best part is, not sharing the dessert. Komal understands the need to have a dessert to oneself. Apparently, Nish doesn't. He has to nibble on my plate at all times. I am sorry, we share our lives, interests and spit.. I mean... passions. And we don't need to share food >_<
Thanks for letting the sugar-rush get to the both of us, in full quantities. Of course, we felt much better after having that Chocolate Molton Lava Cake at Pickle Barrel.
3. To revive ourselves for our relationships.
You see, after all that venting (with food therapy) :D you talk about more than half the issues that you were supposed to discuss with your partner. And you let a lot of it go away. Partly, because your girlfriend made you realize some things are petty. And the other half, ah well.. you already vented about them. So, why go through the trouble of bringing it up again to cause a fight? You go home happy and satisfied. And your man doesn't have to hear half the shit you were pissed about. What more do ya guys want?
4. To talk plain kinky.
I am sorry, but guys definitely don't take it well when we talk dirty otherwise. He gets concerned because I reference a lot of genitals in my blog speech, lol. Let's face it here - women were suppressed in history for a number of years. We weren't allowed to practice free sexuality or even talk about sex or intimacy. It was considered a sin. One definitely needs a girl to talk about the things she enjoys or detests. Clearly, guys don't take it well when you share it with them. Apparently, it's shameful for many to even talk about. Hmmm.. extravagant logic there! You wanna DO it. But you don't wanna talk about it afterwards. Interesting!
Since watching Sex & the City is my guilty pleasure, I tend to get in one of those characters when I start discussing my intimate details, lol. It can be pretty funny. Sadly, we didn't get there Komal. But hey, save it for the next time. Who else will you talk to about Brazilians and amount of zits on your face, or how hairy you are? That's all a turn off for guys. In fact, their opinion is not even valued here. Nothing like a woman's perspective in this category! Believe it or not, we put more than just hormones into this - a lot of thoughts and strategies!
And those are all the reasons I could think of! I had a lovely girls day out. It was much needed after five days of hardwork and no sleep. Therefore, I am gonna spend the day cleaning tomorrow and finally getting to my essays. I hope everyone is having an amazing weekend =) Cheers!
