Hello people.
I don't know where exactly you can buy NYX Lipsticks other than one store that I am aware of. It is at Bramalea City Centre - Designer Cosmetics. The two affordable brands I really love are 'Rimmel' and 'NYX.' The NYX lipsticks are very creamy and smooth in texture. I still prefer Rimmel over NYX though. I will have to make another post for Rimmel lipsticks because there are way too many, especially with the Kate Moss collection.
So, here it goes for NYX:
My top favorites are: Fig, Tea Rose, Very Berry, Snow White, Circe, and Indian Pink. These are all the ones that I own. And have a look at the swatches/pictures below =)

FIG is probably my most used lipsticks. What I absolutely love about NYX lipsticks is how amazing they are in their smoothness. They have a very balm-like consistency and are really moisturising. This is what I wear to school on a regular basis because the color looks really nice and natural. It's not overpowering at all.
TEA ROSE is a gorgeous sort of mid-tone pink. I would almost call it a mauve. But it's nice. This kind of pink can be flattering for almost all skin tones, ranging from light to dark. If you are a person scared of wearing pinks, you should definitely experiment with this one. It's not a hot pink or a bubble gum pink. The mid-tone really does not scream 'pink.'
Now, this is a colour that I just got today. Remember, I talked about the NARS pencil in Damned? I needed a lipstick to go over it. And VERY BERRY is the perfect one. I cannot wait to wear it for fall. I cannot even attempt it right now, I am so tan.. it's almost disgusting. But ah.. LOVELY colour!
This is a colour that I've owned for a long time now. SNOW WHITE was the second red lipstick I purchased after my Rimmel in 'Jet Set Red.' They're both reds, but with different undertones. Now, for the people who want a bright overpowering red, this is not the one. It is a "cool-tone" red that can almost give it a maroon-ish feel. But what I adore about this lipstick is its staying power. It stays on after eating, talking, and wearing for almost 4-5 hours without a touch-up. So, this is not a true bright red, but a red-brown kinda color. And if you're scared of experimenting with reds, you should go with this one. This is not the Marilyn Monroe kind of bold red. In fact, this can be more flattering than the bright red. Oh, and this is PERFECT for evening wear.
Moving from the darker colours to the opposite end, one must own a nude in their makeup collection. I was a fan of nudes in my first years of lipstick-wearing (during 1st year university and some of high school because you can barely see it). As I started experimenting with darker colours, I liked them better on my lips. But I do own two nudes, one is from Almay in 'Sand Beige' and the other is CIRCE in NYX (picture below).
Last, but not the least is INDIAN PINK. LOL I actually bought it because of the name. Silly, I know! This is a lipstick for a summer-kissed glow. It's almost a mixture of pink with tiny gold pigments, that do not show up as glittery on the lips as it shows in the lipstick itself. I'd say it's an orangey/coraly lipstick with pink undertones. And it has a frosty finish. I am not a fan of frosts, because I love my mattes. Now, frosts can be tricky to work with. This is the kind of lipstick you have to try on yourself before you buy it. I make it work for me only with Indian partywear. You can throw on a bold lipstick with a saree or a salwar kameez but I can't carry it off on a regular outfit. You can either love it or hate it. Check it out for yourself :)
And that's all for the NYX! I hope everyone is having a great weekend =)
I love reading your blogs! So happy you write atleast one per day! Love your makeup collection. Haven't personally tried NYX as I'm more keen towards MAC coametics, especially their matte lipsticks but will try NYC once for sure!
ReplyDeleteHello reader.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yeah, I know I can't afford versatility in MAC, because it's on the higher end for my budget. So, I usually try to find great things for an intermediate price. They have an amazing deal at this store in Bramalea, you get 3 NYX lipsticks for $12.99. And that is a bargain for great lipsticks. Individual sale price is $4.99. Happy shopping! :)
I love your makeup posts! Can you maybe do some swatches with the lipsticks too next time? Just so I can get an idea of what they actually look like! I have one of their lipsticks it has great pigmentation but they are so soft, it feels like the lipstick might just break off:|
ReplyDeleteLOL @ the breaking off part.
ReplyDeleteYeah, they are really delicate actually. But it's good because you can apply it light handedly :) instead of coating yourself like 5 times.
The pigmentation is what surprises me with the cost. In fact, NYX is dirt cheap in U.S. I think it's $2.99 across the border.
I will do the swatches next time. Swatches might not help, I'll apply them on my lips and then you can really get a feel of how they look on someone with my skin tone :)
