Hi. After my first lecture, I came home and did not end up attending the evening one. I slept at 2:00 pm and woke up at 10:00 pm. Now, that everyone else is sleeeping, I am gonna stay up. Great! Well, I have one lecture tomorrow, so I can work on the readings for that. That will only take an hour or so. Hence, I decided to blog about something not so useful, lol. I don't know how many people watch the India Bigg Boss, but I do, almost obsessively. And I wanna do my own analysis/commentary about each of the characters and the show in general. Yes, I have a lot of time on my hands, as of now.
Bigg Boss Season 5
First of all, I love reality shows. Unfortunately, reality shows are not real. Most of them are scripted. I watched all seasons of Jersey Shore. This is not like Jersey Shore (because you are supposed to stay inside the Bigg Boss residence). Basically, it's like being imprisoned with people you don't know and you cannot step out. They have to amend themselves according to the people and situation. Think about this, we get upset over group work in class (if we have unwanted group members, whom we don't want to work with). Those 30 minutes of misery? Right? Think about living with people you completely dislike, or do not want around you for 98 days. That's Bigg Boss. The winning amount is 1 Crore Rupees.
Following are characters currently on the show (the five finalists):-
Starting off with my favorite character on the show..
Mehak Chahal - The first time I saw Mehek was in a punjabi song by Manmohan Waris - Dil Te Maar Gayi Daaka. Then, she did her debut in Nayee Padosan with the guy that appears in the video of 'Dhol Jageeron Da' (the most popular song by Master Salim). Then I thought, ohh.. that girl. Basically, she started off by modelling and doing music videos before her debut. Her movie was a flop, but she was better recognized in an item song in Kareena's movie Chameli. The song was 'Sajna Ve Sajna.' I didn't research.. this is just stuff I have seen on TV. There must be more, but I don't wanna get into it. She was also in the punjabi movie, Dil Apna Punjabi as well as a song in Yamla Pagla Deewana.
The reasons why I like her ...
When the house was full of members, and there were frictions everyday, she remained true to her self. This girl always had friends since day one. Everyone stood up for their friends, obviously being biased. She went AGAINST her friends, when they were wrong. She supported most of the right situations. Now, even though she remained true to herself, there were times she exaggerated and said some things she shouldn't have. But then again, every single person did that on the show. I like her because she has been the same since the beginning of the show till the end. Her personality has not been a roller coaster ride (like Pooja Mishra). She is not sly (like Juhi) or cunning (like Amar). She speaks her mind and is not afraid of it. I liked her relation with Laxmi. At the end of the day, I think she is a good person. She dramatizes herself sometimes.. but no one is perfect. I think her personality is far better than other people in the house.
Siddarth - Sid is the ONLY guy I like in the house. I feel for him, and I want him or Mehak to win. He started off in the house with Sky. Everyone looks for a companion when you are new to something. He is the youngest member of the house. And he got carried away with Sky and his cunning, cheap tricks. Let's not forget that Sky came into the house with cheap tricks of making people fight and just to cause chaos. Sid was his partner in crime, at that time. But what I like about Sid is that he grew so much over time. From following Sky's orders, he developed friendships and bonds with others such as Shonali and Mehak, and even Pooja at times. Now, he uses his own brain to judge what people are doing. And the best thing, he is not afraid of being by himself in the house, and he was when Mehak was evicted. At least, he has some sort of dignity, unlike Amar (bouncing between teams for his benefit).
Juhi - I think she is probably the most cunning woman in the house. She used Pooja Bedi (till the time she was in the house) to sort issues (that were actually her own). She only survived in a calm and composed fashion BECAUSE of Pooja Bedi. I think she would have been a different person if she did not have good friends since the beginning. The true colours of Juhi Parmar started to come out when Pooja Bedi left the house. Sunny became her puppet after she came into the house. I think she is unnecessarily dominating and really insolent sometimes. She has targetted Sid most of the times (for NO reason). I felt bad for Sid every time she did that and he kept quiet because he respects her (as she is elder to him). Now that Sunny left the house, she is more evidently cunning. One can see how she reacts to things when they are not in her favor. She was serious when she told Sky to leave. It was her trick of sending him home, and eliminating competition. Later on Aapka Farman, she joked about it. I hate it when she does her fake shy smile when Sanjay compliments her. Her husband seems like a nice guy though.
Amar - I think Amar is a self-centred, egoistic, prick. He is just like a bouncing ball. He has gone back and forth from one person to another, and from one team to another. If you watch Bigg Boss, you would be aware of the groupism in the house. According to his advantage, he has used each group to spill secrets and fill garbage in people's brains. If he thinks, he is gonna win by doing this... MAN IS HE WRONG!
Sky - I hate sky. Period. He came into the house with a game plan and a strategy (to make everyone fight and eliminate people). Yet, he accuses Amar in all fights that is the biggest game player. Amar plays his game in his own mind. You are freaking making people fight and causing unrest in the house. Who is the biggest player now? With the intimacy between Pooja and him, he kind of stopped causing chaos. He had someone to control him each time but Pooja used to control him AFTER the fight was over. I think she was pretty much useless, biased and an instigator. When he said hurtful things to Mehak (not once, but numerous times).. no one came forward to help her. Why wasn't Pooja doing her job then? I just hate Sky's guts. He remains between women and looks for comfort in them. If he did not have someone by his side, he would have left the show a long time ago. He disrespected Sanjay enough times. I was wishing for him to be eliminated each week of the show, but that did not happen.
Other favorites from the show..
Laxmi - I think she is truly a wonderful person. She did best to represent herself and her community, in a very dignified manner. It's not about what family you come from, or whether you come from an elitist background, or your sexuality - it's about being a good human being first. And that's what she preaches. Sexuality should not matter. It's not a standard to judge people by. She was the most sensible of the bunch. I believe she was probably more sensible than Pooja Bedi (even though she was given this automatic label of the most "sensible" person in the house).
Raageshwari - Ragz is an old school singer, I remember listening to some of her songs. She was the positive thinker of the house. The most calm, reserved and intelligent girl in the house. She just believed in positivity and it was so cute when she was given a task that was in conflict with her sweet personality. Poor thing could not cause any sort of conflict between the members. All in all, she was the peace maker of the house.
I also liked Sonika a lot. I loved her laughter. I wish, this show happened after her pregnancy. I think she is an interesting person to be around. She has a great sense of humor and a contagious smile. Too bad, she was taken out of the show because of her medical condition. I would love to see her in another reality show.
Anyway.. that was my take on the show. I just hope Mehak or Sid win. Shame on the public if any of the other three members win.
