Post #22: Your favorite movie and what it is about.
Hey dolls.
Are you proud of me? I am actually not procrastinating anymore and trying to get this challenge done. I am still behind! Ideally.. I should have completed it by now. That's why it is called 'The 30 Day Challenge'.. duh! But of course.. I took over 30 days for this to be done. My apologies..
This topic was extremely hard to pick because I have way too many favorite movies. I don't like the other topics on the list so I am going to just pick a movie among my favorites and talk about it anyway.
I am gonna say: Serendipity.
Let me start off by talking about my favorite phrase, "If we're meant to meet again, we will."
So, not a lot of people know this but Serendipity has a little bit of connection to my accidental love. Perhaps, I may have mentioned it on a previous blog but I can't recall it as of now. Let me just reinstate what I may have said previously. The true story is: I saw my man on someone's Facebook 5 years ago. I was 17 back then and I was friends with a girl who knew him. She had a crush on him. And that is why she pulled up his picture and showed it to me. Our friendship only lasted that summer. However, that one picture of his was somehow enough for me to recognize him in 2011 (precisely, after 3 years).
I don't know how it all happened, but I also think it was meant to be. We meet hundreds of people. We see hundreds of people everyday at malls, bus stops, university, pubs and so on. How do we recall a particular person we saw years and years ago? I frankly have such a faint memory of people's faces and names. It was a surprise to me when I actually recalled that one picture of his.
Here is what happened - I lost my phone at the gym in August 2011. I put up my status as, "If anyone has any information on how to track phones or block data, please message." I was upset because my phone had over 600 pictures and some very fond memories. I was desperately trying anything that would bring my phone back. This guy on Google Talk messaged me saying he can help me track it. He told me he worked at Rogers. He took my phone number and some information regarding my phone. He was sitting on my Google Talk for months and I had no idea who he was. He messaged so many times before and I had never replied. So, I got to thinking.. who is he? I went through his profile.. and I saw that picture. The picture I had seen 3 years ago on my friend's Facebook. I recognized him.. not instantly.. but still quick enough.
Now.. I was more interested. He didn't end up tracking my phone. Apparently, that was also a way of catching my attention. After that night.. we spoke a couple of times about stealing phones and boring topics as such. About the 5th day, we met up partially incidentally. And since then, we haven't looked back. It's still weird how I remembered his face even after 3 years.
Back to Serendipity.. this cute and romantic movie is very close to my heart. The couple in the movie felt a strong attraction at first sight, if not love. And that is how we felt too. I have barely ever liked someone as much to listen to their crap the first day, lol. Our first day conversations were boring enough to put someone to sleep, yet I still sat there listening.
This movie is about fate. And a lot of things related to my relationship are surprising and I relate them to fate. Overall, I really enjoy watching this movie. It has cute little moments which make me smile. This old-fashioned romance represents my old-fashioned man and his ideas of romance. Except.. in the movie, Sarah is the old fashioned one, not Jonathan.
And for those who haven't watched this movie - I think you should watch it at least once =)
