Politics is a fact of life

Even though I am leaving my job.. I do wanna make a few remarks. I have never probably been so mentally upset with any type of work or task before. This is not trying to defame the organization that I worked at. But sometimes, situations are as such that you cannot help it. Politics is a part of every organization, believe it or not. Much of it could be invisible and sometimes, you can see the tricks people are paying. Bottom line, there always is some sort of politics either between the colleagues, or the employer and employees. I think I've been around the circle and experienced all kinds of politics that may exist. Some people might think you need a big organization to have clashing opinions and personalities to be a part of politics. But you're wrong, sometimes, there may only be a small team of 5 people to have that kind of a game.

Politics and power are closely associated, as we all know. People use strategies to seek advantage at the expense of others for their own good, or just to gain power in the scenario. I care passionately about the decisions I make at work and the people I deal with. I care about the clients that I am assigned and want to serve them right. Sometimes, your opinions or style of dealing with clients could clash with your boss.

I work with two women who I am friends with. And we all get wrapped up in office politics. Even if we try not to get caught up in the drama, it still happens. And it is at its peak, now that I am leaving. I feel that you become the scapegoat and automatically get blamed for everything because they know you're leaving. All of a sudden, you are accountable for everything, despite your sincere working habits. In such situations, its inevitable that your emotions will get fired up. But I am trying my best not to react because it's US who choose how to separate ourselves from the crowd.

Even though a lot of people say, "don't make it personal." I feel, that this is impossible. You can try not making it personal but it will definitely become personal at some point. I have honestly had it with the unnecessary drama and stress caused by this type of dirty politics. But I've took some life-long lessons from this experience that I will further keep in mind for the next job. And I think, at the end of the day.. that's what matters. I went there for the experience, not the money. And additional to working experience, I have now acquired some knowledge of the politics and how you can make it work for you.
