People think SHE is fat. I absolutely love Khloe Kardashian and think she is hella sexy! She is curvy, and has flesh just in the right places. I am considering her as a source of inspiration =D |
I haven't done a health update in ages. In fact, I decided to chuck that health blog and do it all here. Not ashamed of posting it where hundreds of people read. I have been keeping up, the consistency is there. The workouts - not so much. The cardio - yes (at home, mostly). I have EMBRACED dancing as something I loved since childhood, and couldn't continue on because of the way my body had developed. And now, I am back to dancing. I can burn more shaking that booty in the basement where no one is watching me, than struggle on the elliptical where the hot girl beside me with the perfect body will stare me down as if I am "never" gonna get there.
Since I did the last update, I have lost about 13 pounds. And mind you, 30 more to go. A lot of people tell me to not write about it (the reason I didn't for a long time) and to keep it on a hush-hush because of all those superstitious beliefs. Umm no, you can't do shit to me with your "nazar" because I am gonna eat and workout every day the way I do it. And you can do it too. As my dear friend, and motivation - Kari suggests - CONSISTENCY is key! Once you stick to it, and tell yourself.. I am not quitting! That's it.. you'll definitely make it.
Dieting is ridiculously hard. Not the starvation or the calorie-counting diet. Just eating the right foods in general. Saying buh-bye to sugars and starches, and FAT. I cannot even begin to tell you how wonderful my skin has started to look by eating all the fruits and vegetables I should have been eating all those years. It barely needs foundation to hide those imperfections because I used to have a lot of pimples. They are all GONE. Why? Because I drink my water. Eight or more glasses a day - no matter WHAT. I might pee 12 times a day and feel that my bladder will just give up anytime, but it's well worth it. All the toxins are pushed OUT of your body. You get healthier skin, and hair. And no, I am not doing an advertisement here for a product (even though it might sound like it) but it's VERY true.
The best thing is, I dropped 2 sizes already :) and I could not be happier. I am not the kind of person who will hide that happiness beneath herself and not let the world know, because they might feel envious or whatever. I will share it, proudly (because I am working hard), and you can think whatever the heck you want. I am not being cocky, just REAL.
I am booking an appointment at the doctor's for another thyroid test two weeks later. I am POSITIVE that I have dropped down because I made a change. A MAJOR change. Here are some of the changes that can help you get STARTED without feeling that it's a DIET:-
I switched from regular coffee to decaf at Tim Hortons, with 2 milks and no sugar. Use SPLENDA! (note: too much sweetener on a regular basis is also not good).
Although you can drink one caffienated drink a day, I choose to drink green teas and experiment with herbal teas that are DETOX, so that they can cleanse your system. I drink a cup at night everyday, and I never feel bloated or constipated with that.
Second, switch from the more sugary fruits (like bananas and pineapples) to fruits such as berries, oranges, apples, cantaloupes etc. I eat fruit EVERY DAY!
Third, throw out all those dressings from your fridge and bring low-fat instead. I made a lot of salad so I require 50% less fat dressings. Also, switch to half-salt. Sodium in excess also screws up your body! (Sorry, I cannot explain in scientific terms). And then, if you're a cheesy person, I mean CHEESE person like me, you can switch to 95% fat free cheese from Kraft!
Instead of frying things in oil, grill them or oven bake them whenever you can! You can use PAM (it's a spray) to cook in a pan instead of using oil. If you're a pasta lover (like moi), switch to whole wheat pasta and choose brown rice instead.
Essentially, you're eating everything, but the key is PORTION control AND you're eating things that are a little FREE from fat, as opposed to the ones we regularly eat. I can go on and on about this. Make it a habit to incorporate vegetables in your meals at least TWO times a day.
Now, does this sound like dieting to you? Well, to me.. it first did. As you guys usually see my lovely fattening desserts pictures. I have stopped eating those sugars. Even if I want to eat sugar, I will purchase a dark chocolate bar, and eat 2 pieces of instead of eating the whole block of chocolate.
I stopped going to McDonalds, Burger King, Taco Bell and all those yummy (and fattening!) places and switched to Subway and Quizznos Sub. Quizznos have some really good salads, and you get a pita with it. So you are eating your vegetables and bread servings of the day!
Switch from POP to other drinks. You can still have soft drinks - try Coke Zero, or Diet Nestea. I am loving the Diet Nestea with the citrus flavor. It's good! Go to a Chinese supermarket and experiment with iced teas, or just herbal/green teas. They have a HUGE variety!
I also take the stairs whenever I can and avoid the elevator! The weather is great outside and it is time for EVENING WALKS with your friends or by yourself with your music or something.
I've got to study now.. more on this later :) and good luck to everyone for exams!
