This is how it all began..
ThirTEEN.. emphasis on the TEEN there, if you already didn't notice. Gymming? Playing dodge ball with those snobby bitches in grade seven who have nothing nice to say? Embarrassed of the stubble on your leg and wanting to shave because you wanna change in the CHANGE room and not the washroom. We've all been there, done that, at some point. So, my wonderful mother bought a Venus razor for me in grade 8, finally. My legs were nice and smooth, and really not that hairy. But you know, the curiosity of trying new things..
Who the hell knew shaving is a vicious cycle? And that your hair grows back thicker, coarser and darker? I mean, WHO knew? Clearly, not ME! I wanted smooth legs, so I shaved :/
But right when it started growing back, let's say about two years later by grade 10 - my hair was THICK. And it grew back worse than before, and I had to keep shaving.. I didn't even THINK about waxing, considering that I do NOT have a threshold for pain.
I am talking, screaming for mercy at the salon - THAT is my threshold for pain. Seriously! :/
I didn't know I could switch to waxing and make it better. So, I just kept shaving, and shaving. And who had the budget to spend money bi-weekly for waxing arms, underarms and legs? Not me. SO.. years of nicks and cuts later.. I finally got myself WAXED!
All the years of shaving, I've learned one thing - whether it be Venus or Gillette, nothing works better than a men's razor to get rid of the coarse, thick, dark hair on your legs. Don't be surprised, a lot of women have come to know this. And I know a bunch of friends who use it too, lol. So, if you've never shaved and are sitting there wondering what it's like.. don't even bother. You're good that you waxed since the beginning. Your legs are probably soft, light and smooth. If you HAVE shaved, you know what it feels like to go to bed at night with sandpaper legs that poke each other because you went one day without shaving, LOL. Y'all know what I am talking about... don't even pretend. Not to mention the itch, the first day you shave your legs, around the butt and thigh area. So, if you're sick and tired of shaving like ME, do consider other options, please.
I always kept away from wax because I used to get my face waxed and that would leave me with huge red pimples, that would eventually go away with showering with cold water, but the burning sensation would remain unless I applied some aloe cream. So, I tried to just get my upper arms waxed three weeks ago and see if I can handle the pain. They are less sensitive than my forearms, and covered in sleeves in the winter, so I thought why not?! It was not THAT bad. The pain was tolerant. And I finally decided to get a full arm wax after a full month's growth to get the nice smooth skin that I wanted. And I thought, since my underarms are the darkest area of my upper body because I have been shaving for too many years, I should get that done too. HOLY FUCK! Like.. H-O-L-Y F-U-C-K!
I held myself through while she was doing my forearms - it HURT though! Imagine that you have shaved your arms since you were thirteen years old, and like the movies, fastforward to seven years later - I am getting them waxed. It HURTS. But.. it wasn't THAT bad. Because.. nothing could compare to the under-arm pain that I went through..
So, the lady was really sweet looking, and gentle with her touch. Do not judge by how the person looks, wait until they fucking rip those wax strips off of you with no mercy :( I remember tears just shooting down my face and I was looking at the ceiling, then I blacked out for a few seconds.. until she did the other side. OH, EM, FUCKING GEE. I am not exaggerating! It was HURTFUL. Very HURTFUL. They should fucking consider giving me anaesthesia the next time. You don't do such hurtful things when the person is like.. alive..um, yeaahh.
I wouldn't dare try it at home. I know a lot of people that do. And let's not even mention pubic waxing here. That's a whole new level of things. And I am not jumping on the bandwagon for that one. NO, NO, NO! I would only get this done at a professional salon, with tea tree wax, which is a lot more gentle on your skin. I am thankful to the lady though, she at least gave me a chance to breathe between ripping my hair out so bloody fast.
And oh.. those hair removal creams like NAIR never worked on my thick, coarse hair. I am dreading the next time I have to get my underarms waxed, it'd only be the second time but I am hoping it wouldn't be as bad as this one. Yeah, you guys can laugh now.. geez! I am still traumatized :/

I think you should try sally hansen microwavable wax... hair grows out thinner too. They have non-microwavable ones too, and for all hair types. But the Sally Hansen one is the most reliable one. And there are special ones for underarms and facial hair too i believe those rolls-ons. Go to shoppers and research, thats what i did :)
ReplyDeletep.s. you know those "no-no" solar hair removers, I was wondering if they actually work :S they are getting popular now, and i think mac is selling them too. They seem to be easier to handle, heard of them?
Hey Anonymous!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the suggestion. I've actually never heard of Sally Hansen's wax. I shall go to Shoppers as well as Sally's to see what I can find!
And the solar hair removers.. I guess you're talking about epilators? I saw them at Walmart.
No they are different... see if this website works for you

Oh.. that looks pretty interesting. Although I am always skeptical to try things out of the ordinary, but might as well give it a try.
