For those of you who don't know what DIY stands for - it means "Do it yourself!"
I know for a fact that Sonia is obsessed with these and she referred one to me a while ago which I never got a chance to share with anyone. Basically, I spend about $10 bucks every month on eye-makeup removers. I might not wear skin makeup on a daily basis (foundation and powder), but I always wear eye makeup. Usually, eye liner and mascara. And the water-proof stuff is really hard to get rid of. And as I mentioned in the previously written blog, I am trying to sleep without makeup everyday. So, I tried this DIY formula at home, and it works!
Basically, you get a bottle which can be sealed properly and pour Extra Virgin Olive Oil to fill up 1/4th of the bottle. Then you add Aloe Vera Water (I used Mineral Water - the bottled one) and add about 2 and a half of 4 of it to the bottle (Clearly, I am not good with measurements, you figure it out lol). You shake it up really well and let it sit there for about a few minutes. I used it to clean my eye makeup and I did not have to apply pressure to get the stubborn mascara off my eye lid like I usually do with other makeup removers. And then you just wash your face with your cleanser. I have a combination skin, so I haven't experienced any problems with the oil. I can't speak for people with oily skin. But for me, it works and saves me money!
Second, since I am up early today.. I am planning to cleanse my skin really well for today because every time there is a party, I always end up having a bad skin day. And I don't care.. but I am turning this day into a good skin day today. I am gonna start off with some steam, so it can open my pores. I do this in a funny way, since I don't have salon equipment or anything. I usually heat up water on the stove, cover my head with a towel and stand there for a good 10-15 minutes until I sweat real good. Then, using a cotton ball and using an Indian product (Aloe Vera Milk from some Herbal brand) and cleansing my face with it. The steam really helps once a week. I do this once in 6 months (I shouldn't even be talking lol). Anyway, after that.. just take a bowl and pour some home made Yogurt and mix it up with 3-4 drops of Honey. Mix it up really well and apply it like a mask on your skin and leave it on for about 30-40 minutes (dance around in the kitchen, watch TV, stare at your pretty self in the mirror, or bug your siblings till then). And then, you wash it off with lukewarm water. After a few minutes.. wash your face with cold water, because you want to close off your pores. And then apply your moisturizer :)
I am hoping I get amazing skin for today at least. I am starting to get some pimples under my chin and they are not attractive at all. I am using the Oxy treatment but I am not regular with it. I heard a lot of people talk about Clearasil? Let me know of other products that you think are effective. I hope all of you have a wonderful today! I am in a good mood today and I plan to devote it to myself. Hence, I might a makeup tutorial a few hours later. Yay! :)

I think you already have, but Im unsure. Could you do a tutorial on picking the right foundation (so its not too cakey? or oily), and if you pick two, mixing the two right foundations and how to tell youve done a relatively decent job of that?
ReplyDeleteAnd of course, could you do a tutorial on going for that natural look? With the right foundation, blush, lipstick, whatever to conceal your blemishes, and minimal eye make up?
Id really appreciate that. Since as you know, I am a total noob at make up.
Hey you! Long time :)
ReplyDeleteOmg.. foundations! They are so painful of a purchase. It took me a good three years to figure out how stupid I was when choosing foundations. I have looked like a cake with icing (cakey foundation) and also baked (too much bronzer) and many other makeup mistakes. My next blog shall be Foundation 101!
And you're not a noob. You're eye makeup is gorgeous in one of your fb pictures! Don't even talk lady..
