Remembrance Day

Hello folks. Today is the most awaited, 11.11.11. It's Veteran's Day, also known as Remembrance Day here. I hope all of you are wearing your poppies and donating generously :)

With all due respect to the seriousness of the event, is a news that I find absurdly amusing. I heard that Aishwarya Rai is hoping to deliver her baby sometime this month. And Mr. Bachhan wants it to be today, by the means of Cesarian (famously known as the C-section). He doesn't mind having a pre-mature baby as long as his birth certificate stamps the date of today. Hmm..

This month is filllllllled with assignments and tests for me. Since I am in my last year, we have more of in-class tests and major research assignments rather than final exams. I only have two final exams, I believe both of them are December 7th (one in the morning and one in the evening). I have a 40% Research Assignment for my Qualitative Analysis class where you get to choose what you're interested in. Going to Humber College for a year, I came to the realization that there's an awful lot of unintentional plaigiarism that occurs between International students. The two causes I can think of are: their educational system back home which permits using the work of other authors without recognition as well as cultural beliefs that somehow permit cheating as an acceptable option (the notion that 'sharing is caring' between classmates). Since, this is supposed to be an un-biased project, I will pretend I know nothing about the causes and will go in with the project as a sociologist. I am hoping it will be interesting as I get to perform two interviews (one male, one female) that will be recorded and transcribed, of course by me. They will last an hour and I will have a comprehensive set of questions guiding my question.

The second major assignment is for my Senior Seminar class for Crime, Law & Deviance and it is 50% of my final grade (woahh!) I love that class. It just makes me track back to the first day of university. I had 500 students in my Sociology 101 class. And now we are 15 students in the Seminar class. We work as a panel group in the classroom and participate in active discussions. It's not sitting there, monotonously jotting down every word coming out of the professor's mouth. It's more of class participating and DISCUSSING the material in the book, and critiquing theories and studies by other people. Interesting!

Anyhow, having said that.. the next two weeks are going to be hell for me. All my assignments and major tests set into two main dates: November 25 and 28. Those are big dates for me. And I gotta get working on it right now. Sadly, my Humber course will go on until December 17! But I will be done from university by December 7.

Other than that.. my parents are quite busy as well working unusual over-time (I don't know why). My brother will also not come down this weekend because he has exams. The house is pretty dead. You know what's gonna be more dead? Arshia is leaving for India tomorrow for a good 6 weeks. I am happy for you hun, you get to experience a fresh breath of air after all the hard work you've done. It will serve as a good experience before you start school again in January and I hope for the best for you. You have truly been amazing to me, and let's hope for good times in Downtown when you get back :)

And that's about it.. Cya!
