Birthday: Round One.

October 6th, 6:30 a.m. - Dad came into my room and did what he does every single year. There is a ritual. Ever since I was 13 years old, he would always get me morning coffee and my favorite donut and sing for me. He has been doing that every single year and this year too, it was more than special <3
I am still a little kid for my parents, they snuggle into bed with me, hug and kiss me after they sing me happy birthday. That just made my morning! Even though I had three hours of sleep - that just took away my sleepiness. Then, I got a phone call that changed a lot of things for me. Some meaningful words were said on the phone - with my eyes still closed in bed, but with a wide smile on my face. It was just the most beautiful morning I have ever woken up to. I wish I can disclose exactly what I am talking about but I cannot. I went downstairs around 8:00 a.m. and saw that my mom had already baked a cake for me! She woke up around 6:30 a.m. to do that. She made my favorite breakfast before I even woke up. We had breakfast together and went off to Vaughan Mills for birthday shopping :) I drove there, yaaay! (Without a license, lol).

After two hours of not finding a good dress (always happens).. you know just when you need something awesome - you don't find anything? I don't know why is it that I find breathtaking clothes when I am on a random visit to the mall with no intent of shopping. Anywhooo.. since I had no time to waste, I had to get SOMETHING. I chose the most simple birthday dress someone can ever have. A white, polka-dot top, with tights and a little white flower in the hair to go with it :)

Then, we drove back home and I had to run to the salon. Since I do everything last minute, I badly needed to get my eyebrows done. Around noon, Arshia came home and I started getting ready. I didn't even have time to look at myself before we left my house. I had to meet Komal, Zehra and Aadarsh at Humber! We arrived at Humber and all these wonderful people were already there to wish me! They took me to the Humber pub for birthday shots (and made fun my flower, tsk tsk). After spending a little bit of time with them, I went off with my other friends for the rest of the day. Now.. here is where everything begins.

We left Humber to go to a salon again to get my hair done. I wasn't planning a salon trip in installments but I had so many time commitments with people that day. After I got my hair done, we went down to my friend's apartment. Arshia took a day off from work for me. She had been planning a surprise for over a month and people flopped. I was disappointed but that didn't stop me from letting the party go on. I obviously knew they were planning something (you guys are so obvious, lol). In the end, I just asked them, "Guys.. whatever your plan is, let me know, because if it isn't working out, we can still enjoy." They told me everything and I said, "The people that matter are here.. I just need you guys.. let's get this going."

And that's when we bought food, drinks, blasted the music.. and danced.. we had a party of our own at that apartment on the 29th floor - with an amazing view of Toronto with special people. I can't mention all of your names for privacy reasons, but you five saved the day.

In the midst of partying, these guys took me to a room and tried to distract me when they were setting up the cake. Like, really? How obvious can you be Arshia? LOL. It's okay. I went along with it :)
And when I finally stepped out and looked at my cake.. I was just speechless. The best cake I have ever had in my life. Everything was done with careful consideration. Everything showed me how much I mean to you guys. When I blew the candles and cut the cake.. my significant other came out with this digital photo frame. All of a sudden the lights were switched off as he plugged it in. I looked up to see what it was and it started playing the song "Kabhi Kabhi Aditi" with a slideshow of my pictures. Are you fucking kidding me? Seriously? How can someone put so much thought and love into a present? It is something I am gonna cherish forever, and ever. I almost got a little teary. I just felt SO special. Ahh.. that moment <3 I was also given a teddy bear with my name engraved on it. And the teddy was purposely chosen to be chubby to symbolize me >__< thanks! Then, I was given an awesome cake facial. Yaaay, thanks guys. So much for getting my hair done.

He bent down on his knees, held out his hand and asked me for a dance. The song was.. "pehli nazar mein aisa jaadu kar diya".. I was just so mesmerized by his presence and just the way he did everything. We danced.. probably better than Bipasha Basu did in the song :P
Arshia, you made this possible. It wouldn't have been done without you. Both of you sneaky little people called each other over weeks to plan this day - just so I can remember it. And you bet, I will never forget it. Thank you Vikas for being a part of it. You guys were upset at my friends for ruining the surprise and being a no-show? I don't think that's even needed. Because I spent the night with you guys - and it was amazing. Yes, I spent the night out and got home around 10:00 am the next day. And the next day's celebration shall be in the next blog :P
