Okay, this is an angry little message to careless parents. When I moved into my neighborhood, little kids used to ring my doorbell and I used to be the one to make a little group out of them and play games. I watched those kids grow up over 6 years. Someone is now a heavy drinker, and the others have become sluts. What is going on here? Apart from the absolute "need" to be cool in high school, it's the neglect of parents, I feel.
Please take interest in those fake signatures your kids are getting away with at school. Look at the emergency contacts on their school forms. Are you getting calls home if they're skipping class? Probably not! It's going to their boyfriend's cellphones. Are you letting them out with guys? Check what kind of guys. Are your kids doing after-school studying? And they still end up with low grades? You really gotta see what's going on after-school. Check those addresses, are you getting letters from school? Do you ever attend those parent-teacher meetings that people call useless? Have one-on-one conversation with the teachers and find out about your child's progress and behavior in class. Be limited of the money you're giving them. Is it going towards LCBO? Take some interest in your child's life! Please.. The teenage years are the time frame when kids either make themselves, or break themselves. This time is crucial for you to know, what path they're headed on. I am talking of this stuff because I was too once in high school (duh). And I also faked a few signatures here and there. But I told my parents later on. And the picture wasn't pretty then :/ Those little report card signatures can turn into fraud signatures later on.
If you're child is spending 10 hours on the computer a day, or just sitting in their room all day long OR spending nights on the phone. CHECK on them! They could be self-mutilating for all you know! Cutting wrists is something a lot of teenagers are trying. Falling in love and hurting themselves over stupid boys. Do you want your 14 year old to listen to sad songs 16 hours a day and then hurt themselves?
Just a concern, throwing it out there. It's disappointing to see pretty little kids who grew up here turn into bad little monsters. No sense of what they're getting themselves into. And just to clarify, I am not BLAMING the parents here. They're the only ones who could actually take control of the situation.
Family is always there for you, enough said.

I have turned into an avid reader of your blog. I recently noticed that you don't know what your upcoming blogs are going to be about...
ReplyDeleteCould you do a blog on (or basically a blog of your opinions/ drawing from life experiences with people you know/your own)
- arranged marriage
- cross-cultural marriage/relationships
- the concept of family, and what it entails to you in the 21st century, and how you see it being changed and/or dismissed entirely.
Okay, so mission accomplished. Keep reading :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, the 'Upcoming Blogs' section was actually my 'Reminder' section. But it's not gonna come in handy until school starts. So, I thought why not keep readers intriguied with the upcoming topics. Then, I realized I am such a random person. Like, I don't "plan" for what I am gonna blog about. It's just as quick as a thought, usually right after something relevant occurs in life.
But thank you for your suggestions, I shall put them down on the list. This arranged marriage is a popular one. Someone else requested it too!
Small ammendment LCBO is named as SAQ in montreal, shud read like that
