Desi DJ Night: Diwali Celebration at Humber College

Hey everyone!
This blog post is dedicated to an unbelievably awesome night at Humber College (surprisingly). The event as stated in the title was Desi DJ Night as part of Diwali Celebrations. It was hosted by Hitesh Verma (the G.M. of Black Carbon) plus all the sponsors. I can't name them all. There were a lot of people involved, a lot of money involved and needless to say a lot of effort went into it. I had an amazing time with my friends and they all loved it. First off, I wanna give a heads up to Hitesh and his team for coming up with a brilliant event. I am also proud and happy to announce that based on student demand, Desi DJ Night 2 will be hosting the New Year's Party at Humber. The ticket price was $10 which included snacks and pop etc. Raffle tickets were available and prizes worth $600 were given out. Also, the funding went to the Canadian Cancer Society (claps). The food was good, the music was good, the event was well hosted - I liked it!

Apart from the credits and all, let me sum up my experience for you guys. We had a huge crew; my friends from high school, friends that do not study at Humber and many other people were present. I ran into my family friend there as well, quite unexpectedly. So, I spent a lot of time waiting on Kanchi and everyone to enter the event. Since everyone was so punctual (rolls eyes), I went ahead with Damini and Komal. Just 10 or 15 minutes into the party, the emcee announced that any girl who is wearing a pink suit, or in her words 'gulabi suit' should come up on the stage! There were three girls including me. The moment we got on the stage, a huge fight broke out. Thanks Money, for being up there and discouraging me, lol. He kept on texting me to get off the stage while I was standing right beside the emcee. Anyhow, after the fight cleared up, I asked the emcee the purpose of us being there. She said "that's the twist!" We were told to perform any talent of our choice to compete for a present. Wow, two seconds to think? For the first time I went with it and sung a song that was so be-suraa lol. I was too excited to be even working up the guts to perform in front of such a crowd. The second girl danced on Munni Badnaam and I have no idea what the third girl did. After that, based on the cheers for each of us, the winner was gonna be decided. Apparently, it was me. So yay! :)

After all that hype, I don't even remember what happened next but I was down on the dance floor dancing like no tomorrow. And so was the case with everyone else! People went crazy. I danced a lot with Brar and Raj after my friends left, I missed you Sharma. I hope you pack your bags and come here ASAP! We missed your presence :)

I enjoyed my latke-jhatke with Kanchi, Deepali, Komal and Damini. When all of them were gone, I was amongst Brar, Raj, Smiley, Pradeep and the rest of their group. It was a lot of fun! I totally let go and was repeatedly complimented for my dance that night! I loved it. I will brag about it for the next few weeks, so watch out. I also experienced a stranger walk up to me and praise my "chitta suit" (as he says it). I think we might just be friends now!

Apart from that, a special thank you to Guri and Raj for cheering for me =p lol. And to Hitesh, for getting me two water bottles. And to the DJ, to come and have a dance with me. I can rave about the night forever, but now is a good time to stop. I think you guys get the point, lol.

I am looking forward to the second event now and good luck Hitesh and team for the success once again =)
