Hello bloggers!
I am going to bicker about the craziness I have gone through since last night. And I mean crazy. This post is going to be long, so for those of you who want to grab popcorn or something, now would be the time :) lol kidding!
I went to Downtown yesterday, walked a frigging mile to Spadina to meet my professor, HOPING for an extension for my paper that was supposedly due today. Nope, she did not grant it. I had an evening class yesterday so I was stuck at UTM till 8 pm. Soon after class ended, I met up with Zoro after the longest time. I got home around 9:30 p.m. After a long day, I had dinner and frowned upon the fact that I'd have to pull an all nighter. 'Karvachauth' is the Hindu ritual where women fast for their husbands, in order to prolong their lives (as if God is sitting there with an account for each women and counting the years y'all are starving yourself for). But okay, it's a belief. Realistically, all I like about it is dressing up and getting henna done, lol. So, me and mom have this thing where she never goes to the salon to get her henna done. Because she loves it when I do it. It's amateur but she enjoys it. It is like a ritual. We cannot change it. We don't question it. I am making it sound like a law, haha. So, no matter how tired I was, and the fact that I had to pull an all nighter, I spent a fair amount of time doing her henna. It did not turn out as great as I wanted it to, but I entertained her the while she was sitting there. That's all that matters for me. Meanwhile, dad went out to Timmies to fetch me an Extra-Large Triple Triple, so I can study. Aren't my parents the sweetest? Yes, they are :)
So, I started researching and what not. I got started on it. Blah Blah. Won't bore ya and I slept at 3:30 a.m.
I woke up at 11:30 a.m. and started on the paper immediately after a lovely breakfast while my mom starved. Ok get this, from 1:00 p.m. till 5:50 p.m. is when I worked on my paper - without a break. I think at a point, numbers started looking like symbols, and alphabets started looking like numbers. When I was done with the entire thing, I had to format it and put page numbers. Just the perfect thing in time, word tries to fuck up on me. I had to send it to another friend to number the pages, send it back and it was due in 3 minutes. It was actually due at 5 pm, but I turned it in at 6 pm exact. I had a class at Humber at 6:30.
Can anyone imagine how I jumped off the couch at 6 pm, got ready, grabbed random bunch of papers and my textbook, ran out the door in the rain. I was able to make it there by 6:27 with almost a leg injury, wet hair, and short breaths. And the prof decides to come late because of the rain around 6:50 pm. Wouldn't ya just love to be me? Yeah, okay. I had class until 8:00 p.m. and caught up with some friends after class. Dad picked me up around 8:30 p.m. and he was gifting mom a necklace for Karvachauth (as a tradition the husband has to reward the wife for starving herself). He goes, go home and gift wrap it immediately. So, I got home and gift wrapped it. Yup, that's what the picture is all about.
After dinner, dad and I wanted to surprise mom. She didn't know he bought her something this year too, like every other year in the history of Karvachauth (like yeah right, I bet you she was already guessing from a week what this year's present is gonna be, lol) So, I decide to put it in the kitchen cabinet and come sit down on the couch. I asked mom to fetch me some cookies from that cabinet. She goes there and gets the cookies and DOES NOT SEE THE FRIGGING PRESENT! Like mom, honestly, I can smell a present from 10 miles away, SMELL IT! How could you not see it? So, my dad gives me "is-aurat-da-main-ki-karan?" look lol. So, this time he got up and put it somewhere so visible that it cannot even be put in words. Dad tells her to get something for him. She goes again and does not see it. Seriously now? I was like can I just walk up and there and be like WOMAN, IF YOU DON'T WANT THIS PRETTY NECKLACE, give it to me :) because atleast I can see it, lol. Then, I was like okay mom where is the macaroni salad? THENNN she looks again and finally finds it. Shukar hai bhagwaan ka!
So, that's basically about it. I did not get to breathe all day. And now is when I sit and prepare for the next midterm. Tomorrow is my day off, so I am not that worried. I am meeting up with Money and looking forward to chilling a bit. Yaaaay =)
