Wedding Series: Bride in a hurry

The wedding festivities have officially begun :)

I had a fantastic Bridal Shower... all thanks to the people who came and made it what it was. Your blessings and wishes mean the world to me. It still hasn't sunk in that the party is over. I love each and every one of you. Thank you so much for showering me with so much love and wonderful presents! My early helpers... your help was really appreciated. My family loved having all of you over. It was a fabulous night :)

We stuck to the theme - Sex & the City - as best as we could.

When I wrote my first announcement, I was months away from the wedding. Now, it feels like... where did the time go? A bride probably starts dieting and exercising a year in advance. I had half of my Bridal Shower cake myself lol. Cake is my weakness! Especially Red Velvet. Today is detox day. Gotta get back on track. Somehow, I've gained 5 lbs in the last 2 weeks because of the amount of food I had.

A thoughtful anniversary card from baby - the shower was on the same day as our anniversary :)
I mostly didn't feel excited through this phase because it wouldn't sink in that I am getting married. But now, I am sooooo excited as the time is getting closer. All I know is that time is flying. There is so much to do. Amidst my other friends' birthdays and bridal showers (all of next month!), shopping, preparations and general life stuff, I've lost track of my health big time. Today, I am on a huge guilt trip about it. It's just not happening. And I've got less than 2 months left. I was at North America's largest India buffet last night - Tandoori Flames. I am going out to Kwality for lunch tomorrow with one of my high school friends. And day after is Sweeta's birthday. Sunday, is my friend's brother's reception. And then I am off to a road trip to America. I've gotta put a STOP to this. Or at least make moderately healthy choices if not strictly healthy.

My mom and I went jewellery shopping last week and it was quite an experience. It was my first time shopping for gold and every time I picked up a necklace to try on... my mom almost got teary. Now I know why they say this is the best time of your life. It is because you get to experience these different emotions that you've never felt before. All of a sudden, the colour 'Red' has become so important. Mom got me a Red Michael Kors bag for the shower. Last year, she got me a red Coach bag after the engagement. She got me another red lipstick and a red Dazzleglass from MAC. Everywhere she sees red, she wants to get it for me, lol. She's adorable. But I've gotta stop buying red now, haha. My mum-in-law got me a red carry-on after the engagement as well. A quick tip for brides collecting their Bari: try and get different colours for your Bari shopping because everyone else is gonna give you either red, maroon or pink. I am getting my mom to buy me non-bridal colours, so I can wear them later when I am bored of the reds, pinks and maroons.

A quick story about shopping in Toronto: I went to get a suit stitched and the boutique had some suits for sale. I am talking about Brampton here. They had an amazing heavy red and gold suit. I wanted to slip into a suit before the Bidaayi because the lehenga is gonna be too hectic for me to travel in. I thought that suit was just perrrrfectttt for that. She quoted me $350 for it. I bargained for $300 but she wouldn't budge. I came home and saw the same suit for sale in India at a huge showroom in Jalandhar for Rs. 11,500 ($205). LOOK AT THE DIFFERENCE! I understand that people here need to make a profit margin for themselves and cover their shipping expenses but this is ridiculous. So, I continued to research further and saw the same suit at a smaller showroom for Rs. 9,800 ($175). Now, there could be a difference of fabric used in the two stores in India. It is usually the case. But the $205 it still very reasonable. So, I decided to do all my shopping in India. I ordered a saree online because I had my eye on it for the longest time. I saw it last year when the Zarine Khan collection came out. But it was expensive at that time. At a random time this year, it went on for 50% discount and I ordered it immediately =D lol, I know my sales. The saree is so simple but pretty - totally my taste (look at the picture!)

PS: I just realized how useless this post is. Sorry, it's all over the place!
