Post #27: A picture of the town you grew up in.
For those who don't know.. I grew up in Jalandhar. The picture is from a rainy day in Model Town. My birth place will always be close to my heart.
It is a different story that I am not so fond of visiting India anymore but one can never forget their wonderful childhood memories.
I grew up way too fast here. So, all my earliest memories originated in India.
I remember running around the streets, like a worry-free child.. enjoying life. It was pure bliss.
I had such great friends. Friendship had a new meaning. Your neighbors practically lived at your house and vice-versa.
I remember the wonderful school I went to. The auto that came to pick me up for school and people who traveled with me. I remember my uniform and how I wore my hair. I had the thickest hair in the family since then and I still do. I remember how difficult it was for my mom to even braid my hair.
I remember drinking Bournvita milk in the morning before going to sleep. I remember afternoon naps after lunch time and then finishing up my homework so I could go and play. I remember the festive celebrations of Holi, Diwali, Lorhi and other holidays in India. I remember 'Kanjakein' and the thrill of going through the entire mohalla to collect as much money as you could to compete with your friends.
I remember my horrendous accident on the day of Karvachauth. I was walking back from the parlour (Salon) with my mom and our mehndi was done. I saw Kanchi across the street and started running in excitement. I was eager to show her my mehndi. I ended up running into a motorcycle and injuring my legs. I had bruises and it was hard to tell the difference between the mitti and mehndi on my hands. My knees were bleeding and I ruined my mehndi. And Kanchi still stood where she was, LOL.
Ahh.. Jal was the place to be. I had so much fun on my India trip and re-visited every place I wanted to. I went to see my school. I met old friends. I ate at every possible restaurant. I had an UH-mazing time. The best trip ever =)
