I have to get this out of my system. The most troublesome thing in my relationship is "understanding." Now, I might get a lot of people disagreeing with me but I think understanding is more important than LOVE.
I feel like love is such a waste no matter how much you love the other person if you cannot have a level of understanding with each other. You will be over your lovey dovey honeymoon phase in a year or two, may be more for some people. In the end, when it comes time for real issues in life, higher than friends, studies or a job - you will know what I am talking about.
The problem with love is - it's like a recipe. You need ALL the right ingredients to make it tasteful. You can't have 90% love and 10% understanding. You need to have the right amount of ingredients such as trust, understanding, respect, intimacy etc.
When couples learn to understand each other's needs, that is when you know your true compatibility. It is really easy to commit to the honeymoon phase. Any one can have a great relationship full of intimacy and sexual chemistry. But talking of a long lasting relationship (perhaps a life long one) requires a lot of work.
Love alone is not gonna feed you or sustain you when you are married. It's exciting going on dates and meeting up on weekends to go for romantic dates. But when you are living with your romantic date at home 24/7, let's face it - we throw tantrums, and have random mood swings. If there is no understanding, such behaviour can be detrimental to one's relationship. That's why people say "You've changed after marriage!" Even though I am not married, but I'd still say that it's not about being changed. It is probably the fact that your mood or emotions are different when you meet for a short period of time, and different when you are living with the person the entire time.
I am not shy to say that we are not going to have this problem. We've done all those embarrassing things that people can only do at home.
Without the understanding in a relationship, sure, we can stick around and compromise for a bit; but the truth is, love can't flow without it.
I don't know why I chose to write about this. I was subconsciously thinking about something along the same lines. Oh, and it feels good to get my fingers running on the keyboard - not for legal crap, but my blogs! <3 p="p">3>
