Attention span of a goldfish?

Okay, seriously? I can't focus? I always knew I am the queen of procrastination and I can't focus at all. The first week just went "whoooooshhh" (over my head). The second week of school I actually took notes in all lectures. Finally, this week I did my readings and actually "absorbed" what was being said in lectures. Now I have this first assignment worth 15% due tomorrow. And I am having the hardest time to finish it. Actually, "start it." And it's not even that hard of an assignment. This sucks =(

I got up at 11:00 am today and I was all determined to finish this assignment at Humber. I went there around 1:30 pm and it was a fish market. I could barely find a spot to sit. There were nearly 40 people lined up at Tim Hortons. I had to wait until 3:00 pm to eat something. I went through the assignment instructions and opened up the article to read. I read the first two pages when I started to get such a severe headache. Seriously? Out of all the days of the month - I had to get one TODAY when I was trying to accomplish something? I tried to suck it up and continue reading but could not understand a thing for the next 40 minutes. Therefore, I came home, took a Tylenol 500 and slept for an hour and a half.

I woke up a while ago and now I feel a little better. I read the 10 page article and highlighted the important information. I am gonna go over it again right after this blog and hopefully finish it by 1:00-2:00 am.
I thought the attention span of a goldfish was somewhere between 3 to 9 seconds. I gotta say mine's worse :/

I wish our world was a less chaotic place, with less clutter so we can focus on one thing at any given time. Our attention span rates are shrinking and the number of distractions are growing. I know I am not the only one.

  2. Raj, you're right. It's actually the atmosphere that is so disturbing. I learned my lesson. Never making an assignment at Humber College. I went to my university to finish that assignment and did it within 2 hours :) because it was dead silent and I could concentrate.
I am not looking forward to my birthday at all this year, but thank you for sharing your excitement with me.
