I have never had it easy, I mean most of us don't anyway. I used to be an A student all throughout elementary and high school. Just when I started off with University, my graph just dropped tremendously. Currently, there have been improvements but I am not satisfied. I've got a long way to go.
1st Year HBA - I moved out near the campus, was learning to settle in and do things on my own. I got super sick with food poisoning numerous times and encountered many other problems in the basement that I rented and moved back home for the 2nd semester of first year. My first year was horrible. My GPA was a shame. My strategy first year was to eliminate all degree requirements for example, take credits for science, social science and humanities. I did okay with that.
2nd Year HBA - I was in India when the course selection was going on and I didn't get through any of the crime courses. I took elective courses all year long. I did better because I put in the time for summer school after first year. GPA improved a lot from what it was previously. Then I did the summer school after second year, which I am pretty happy about. I got my first A in a crime course. Yay! :)
Now I am going to be a third year. Since I am almost done with electives, I only got two more I can take. So I took up Hindi again this year (I love it!) But I am having trouble getting in the rest of my courses since I am wait-listed. Thank you Zorro, for advising me to speak to the program coordinator. I hope I get through the courses because I need 6.0 credits this year (including summer!)
I am taking a lot of interesting crime and related course at University this year. Some of them are:-
*Sociology of Families
*Crime and Delinquency
*Issues in Crime Prevention
*Special Topics in Crime and Law
*Canadian Government and Politics
*The Logic of Social Inquiry
*Introduction to Personality
*Intermediate Hindi
My first class at Humber was last week Tuesday and I didn't go because a representative on the phone mislead me when I called to register and pay tuition. She said I would need a pre-requisite for the course and I thought I didn't. So I missed that class and it was super important. In the end, it turns out she was wrong and I did not need a pre-req. I am taking up Civil Litigation and Family Law. I attended my first lecture for Family Law yesterday and it seems interesting. It's all about marriage, child custody, divorce, annulment etc.
Oh, and annulment reminds me of that Friends episode where Ross and Rachel get married while intoxicated. This course tells me exactly how a marriage could be void etc.
I am not looking forward to Civil Litigation that much though. One, because I missed a class. Two, because a lot of my classmates are unhappy with the professor's teaching style. Oh well.
That's all the academic hype.
