I... finallly... got.... my... *drum rolls*... G1 =D WOOOHOOOOOOOOOO!
Normally, a person wouldn't be that excited but.. for me, that is getting it done after three years of procrastination! So, it means something!
There isn't anything interesting about getting your written test done, I know I know.
HOWEVERRRR, I am Aditi, and I "always" have something interesting to say :)
I went to the Drive Test Centre yesterday and there were 30 people lined up, it was reallllly cold!
So, I managed to go inside and realized they don't accept health cards plus SIN cards anymore, they need a passport or citizenship card to accompany the other IDs. So, 40 minutes in the cold FOR NOTHING... driving to Rutherford, for NOTHING!
My mom said, "koi gal ni.. edde vich rabb di koi marzi hoyegi." She was trying to imply the fact that I was probably gonna fail and Bhagwan has apparently saved us from that. I love it how brown people relate everything so cleverly, superstitiously, to God!
Anyhow, she woke me up at 7:00 am this morning! UNBELIEVABLE! That's the earliest my day has ever started on the weekend. And I was like, "mom.. you can't be serious!" Okay, well turns out, she pretty much was. The office opens at 8:30 am and I thought it'd be okay if we reach by 8:15 because we'll be the first ones going on. I am sucha genius, when we reached, there were like 70 people in line!
And today, it was FREEZING cold. Notice: it was COLD yesterday, but it was FREEZING COLD today. Therefore, holding the stupid driving book in my hand for 10 minutes, my hands were completely numb. Anyhow, today I waited for 40 minutes to get in, and another 50 inside to write the test, get it approved, picture, register and all those good things.
I noticed half of the people from yesterday were present this morning. Some of them most probably failed.. and I feel bad for the immigrants because English isn't their first language. I saw Indian newly married girls, and their husbands had brought them here.. they all looked so disappointed. Obviously, failing is not a reason to be happy. Three girls sat beside me in the waiting hall, all 3 of them failed, and they're residents.
So, I went inside and finished my test within 10 minutes, it took them 30 minutes to mark and go through the whole procedure. They checked my vision, took a crappy picture of me (the reason why I will never provide anyone with my G1 license for identification), and just some forms to fill out. I passed with a 20/20 for signs and 18/20 for rules.
I felt really bad for an uncle ji, because he came yesterday and failed. He did it again today and failed again. I don't know how many times it will take him to get it right, and that's the written for a trucking license. Well, good luck uncle ji wherever you are, for the next time :)
I was there starting 8:00 am and finished around 11:45 am. My mother and I went to Timmies near our house, had a good breakfast and came home. Yaaay! My brother is gone out to watch My Name is Khan, while I stay home alone and study my rear end off. Woohoo, what fun!
